To enrol in this course you have experience in at least one of the following roles for the specified time period. Your experience must be verified by your current /or previous employer.

In addition, candidates must comply with Clause 1.3.4 of CSWIP Scheme Document WI-6-92 which states that All candidates (with the exception of ‘mature candidates,’ see section 1.4) must attend a CSWIP approved course of training at the appropriate level prior to examination.

You will receive an invoice for the course fee/s once we receive your correctly completed Enrolment Form and signed Terms and Conditions.

Enrolment documents must be lodged and payment must be received 21 days prior to the course start date. Please ensure all the documents specified in the enrolment pack are completed and returned by email to training@qmts.net.au prior to this deadline, 21 days before the start of the course and/or exam.

Your place on the course or exam will be confirmed when payment is received. If all the places on your preferred course are filled prior to receiving payment, you will need to enrol in the next available course and/or exam.

The total exam time is 5 hours (300 mins). There are 3 parts to the exam:

Theory Part 1 – Duration: 120 mins
Content: Welding Inspection
80 Questions
Required pass mark: 70%

Theory Part 2 – Duration: 90 mins
Content: WPS/WPQR
40 Questions
Required pass mark: 70%

Practical Part 1 – Duration: 90 mins
Content: Exam Specimens
24 Questions
Required pass mark: 70%

If you are unsuccessful in part or all of your initial CSWIP exams, you may re-sit the failed parts at another time in accordance with the following:

  1. You will have 12 months from the date of your initial exam to re-sit the failed part/s, after this time you must repeat the entire examination.
  2. The re-sit exam may not be taken within 30 days of your previous exam, unless additional approved training is undertaken before the re-sit.
  3. If you are unsuccessful in the re-sit exam, you will be required to take the approved course in full again, followed by the full exam (if taken within 6 months of the initial course, you will receive a 50% discount on the course only).

You can choose to re-sit the failed parts of your exam by enrolling on a date reserved for HALF DAY Exams on the course calendar.

QMTS offers a Practical Tuition session in order to refresh your knowledge prior to your exam re-sit. These sessions take place on the Monday of the same week of your re-sit exam, which will take place on a Thursday. Both the training and exam will take place on site at QMTS. The training session runs for 6 hours and costs $440.

  1. Welding Inspector for 3 years minimum with experience related to the duties and responsibilities listed in Clause 1.2.2 of CSWIP Scheme Document WI-6-92, under qualified supervision and independently verified OR 
  2. Certified Visual Welding Inspector for 2 years minimum, with job responsibilities in the areas listed in 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 of CSWIP Scheme Document WI-6-92 OR
  3. Welding Instructor or Welding Supervisor for 1 year minimum.
 

In addition, all candidates must comply with Clause 1.3.4 of CSWIP Scheme Document WI-6-92 which states that All candidates (with the exception of ‘mature candidates,’ see section 1.4) must attend a CSWIP approved course of training at the appropriate level prior to examination.

To access your results you will need the following details:
• Customer Number
• Exam Date
• Your date of birth

Your customer number will be emailed to you in a Post Exam Email from QMTS Industry Training.

QMTS offers bridging courses to convert your current Welding Inspector qualifications to the equivalent CSWIP qualifications by undertaking the corresponding courses and exams listed. You will also be eligible to receive 50% discount off the full course fee when you enrol to complete the bridging course and exam.*

American Welding Society

Current: AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Equivalent: CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
Bridge your qualification by successfully completing the CSWIP 3.1 Course and Exam

Welding Technology Institute of Australia

Current: WTIA Certified Welding Inspector

* A 50% discount will be applied to your course fee upon enrolment in the bridging course and exam of your choice. The discount applies to the course fee only and does not include the exam fee.

Your Record of Vision Test can be taken to Specsavers or an Optometrist who can complete the test. 

We offer different options depending on which exams you are completing:

  1. Practical Training
    When: This sessions takes place on Monday of the same week of your scheduled exam, which takes place on Thursday. Both the practical training and exam will take place on site at QMTS. 
    Duration: 6 hours
    Cost: $440
  2. E-Learning Refresher
    When: This option is completed online, prior to your scheduled exam (valid for 60 days).
    Cost: $550
